Gratitude Tuesday: Compassion
I don’t know if compassion was a topic of discussion 50 years ago or 425 years ago, but the fact that compassion can be brought into a conversation today...fills me with immense gratitude.
I’m especially drawn to wrestling with the tough side of compassion; the “it’s not all rainbows and unicorns” angle. Sometimes the compassionate thing to do is not let someone take advantage of you - to stand firm in your own boundaries. To Know your own boundaries!
And sometimes that someone is you.
It depends on where you’re coming from, but sometimes it takes a whole sweatbag of a workout in compassion to tap into your feelings and needs. Communicating them openly and as honestly as you can with the people closest to you...may feel like swallowing boulders.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been there and sometimes I’m still there, and when I am I know that my strength to rise above the inner dialogue of suppression is compassion.
And sometimes I forget even that.
Self Compassion is always the key to unlock my potential, open the door of progression and shine a light onto the scariest of shadows.
May Your Light Lead You.
